Actor Christoph Waltz received the Best Actor award, the Prix d’interprétation masculine, for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s competition entry Inglourious Basterds. The film was produced largely in Babelsberg, also received Medienboard funding and is a Studio Babelsberg production through Zehnte Babelsberg Film.

The Medienboard-funded German-Israeli co-production Ajami by Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani also received the Caméra d’Or Special Distinction. The film screened in the Directors’ Fortnight; its German producer is Berlin-based Twenty Twenty Vision Filmproduktion.

Medienboard Managing Director Kirsten Niehuus says: “Congratulations to all the winners. The awards continue the successful series of films made in Berlin-Brandenburg and once again demonstrate the capital region’s importance as an internationally significant film centre.”
