Under revised funding conditions, Saarland Medien GmbH will continue to strengthen Saarland as a film location. Filmmakers from Saarland and the Greater Region are once again invited this year to apply for film-production and film-music funding. Film and film-music projects will receive a maximum total of €70,000 in funding.

Under the new conditions of participation, producers, filmmakers and composers must award production-related contracts—such as camera, sound and post-production work—to Saarland companies amounting to at least the funding received. Producers and filmmakers should also either be based in Saarland or have a film project with a thematic connection to Saarland or the Greater Region.

“Through the resulting cooperation between filmmakers or composers and Saarland companies active in film or film music, I hope to see a further enhancement of Saarland as a film location,” says Dr Gerd Bauer, Managing Director of Saarland Medien GmbH.

Another new feature is the composition of the expert advisory board. The previous two-member panel will be expanded by a third specialist juror. Projects filmed at locations in Saarland and/or the Greater Region will receive preferential consideration in the selection process.

The application deadline is September 15, 2009.

Applications must be prepared and submitted using the forms available on the Saarland Medien GmbH website (www.saarlandmedien.de). The documents to be enclosed with the application are specified in the application forms.
