Quantel’s new operating software for eQ, iQ and Pablo contains a range of improved tools, including RED Rocket support. Quantel users can now install the RED Rocket accelerator board through a PCI slot in a Pablo, iQ or eQ. The card is supported by the Quantel processor, allowing RED material to be read even faster.
RED Rocket acts as a turbocharger for a multilayer RED-data workflow in Quantel systems. The accelerator hardware speeds processes such as colour interpolation and scaling by 600 per cent.
Quantel is among the very first providers worldwide to support the RED Rocket card. “The fact that Quantel is making the benefits of RED Rocket available to its customers in such a short time demonstrates how quickly the engineers in our Research & Development department can adopt and implement innovative market developments,” explains Quantel Marketing Director Steve Owen. “We respond very quickly to newly introduced technologies. If they are important to our customers, they are important to us.”
Alongside RED Rocket support, the new V4.1 rev.6 software package includes 3D Cubebuilder, which allows 3D look-up tables to be fully imported and modified on Pablo. Further benefits of the new software are:
- Process reordering for greater flexibility when editing multilayer effects
- Nine new application modes for blending different levels or layers, providing more creative design options
- Optimised tools for conforming and material handling. Greater efficiency means more time for creative work
- New file-export options for DVD and Blu-ray
