With the introduction of the MVS series at the beginning of 2005, Sony Professional brought fresh momentum to the professional vision-mixer market, the company explains. More than 100 high-end MVS-series systems are currently in use for productions throughout German-speaking markets. Since then, Sony Professional has continuously developed the series further through ongoing dialogue with its customers.
The MVS-8000G multiformat vision mixer, the smaller MVS-6000 and the DVS-9000 are used both in fixed installations by broadcasters and television-service providers and in mobile applications in outside-broadcast vehicles of every size, the statement continues. Since the MVS series was launched almost six years ago, the devices have proved themselves at many major international events and contributed to successful broadcasts. Their first official appearance was at the 2005 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Further milestones followed, including the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and UEFA Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. At the 2009 World Athletics Championships in Berlin—the first official HDTV production by ARD and ZDF—more than ten MVS control panels were in use.
“Producers and vision mixers particularly value the MVS series for its flexibility, simple integration of external devices, system reliability and, of course, high signal-processing quality,” explains Andreas Berghaus, Product Manager for Live and Post Production at Sony Professional. “Vision mixers master the systems in a very short time thanks to their intuitive operation. Particularly in the usually hectic live environment, it is extremely important that even complex requirements can be implemented quickly and safely. That is why one of our most important operating principles is and remains: keep it simple.”
Almost every public-service broadcaster in German-speaking markets has now chosen Sony Professional MVS-series vision mixers, including NDR, SWR, MDR, HR, BR, RB, DW, ORF and SF. Numerous private broadcasters, including N24 and Pro7Sat.1, as well as production companies and television-service providers such as TopVision, nobeo, TVN, SiVision and Fernsehwerft, also use Sony Professional’s flexible solutions.
“Two factors were especially important to us in developing the MVS series in line with market requirements: first, the close contact we maintain with our customers; and second, the valuable experience from the on-site appointments we offer our customers as standard,” Andreas Berghaus adds. “Sony Professional’s multiformat mixers have now become an industry standard. The MVS series will continue to play a major role, especially in migrating existing production environments to HD. The products support a smooth and, above all, future-proof transition to HD without having to forgo SD functionality.”
Sony will present the MVS-6000 vision mixer and a broad selection of broadcast and studio technology at Sony Professional World 2010 on the following dates in these cities:
