The “anniversary model” was a PDW-700 and was handed over to Hamburg company Video Motion Fernsehproduktion.
Managing Director Svea Andersson personally accepted her new equipment and was both delighted and surprised. “We have never experienced such a rapid and successful market launch of a new broadcast-production format,” says Heinrich Buhr, Managing Director of BPM Broadcast & Professional Media GmbH. “Within a very short time, XDCAM HD has become the new de facto standard in German broadcast production.
Since its market launch in September 2008, BPM has sold more than 100 camcorders from the XDCAM HD422 family. With more than 90 units, the PDW-700 is the clear success model and the industry’s new workhorse. We have even already been able to sell the first used PDW-700 units,” Buhr continues.
“With the format and products of the XDCAM HD422 family, Sony has precisely met the industry’s requirements. Alongside broadcasters’ fundamental format decisions, BPM has played a major role in the success and spread of XDCAM HD422 products,” adds Frank-M. The PDW-700 camcorders are equipped with sophisticated features and include 2/3-inch CCD Power HAD FX image sensors, recording options in Full HD 1080i or progressive 720p, and image data rates of up to 50 Mbps. The optical Professional Disc, with a storage capacity of up to 50 GB, is used as the recording medium. The media can be recorded more than a thousand times and played back more than one million times. They are also distinguished by production reliability, capacity and long-term archiveability.
