G-Technology (G-Tech), Hitachi GST’s premium brand for Mac users and professional users, today announces the introduction of the new G-DRIVE Mobile and G-DRIVE Mobile USB external hard drives at Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) 2010. The hard drives are designed to match the current Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro. Both products are particularly suitable for backing up and storing up to 500 GB of documents, video and audio files for professional users. The recommended retail price for the 500 GB G-DRIVE Mobile USB is 115 euros; the G-DRIVE Mobile (combo) costs 135 euros.

The new G-DRIVE Mobile and G-DRIVE Mobile USB hard drives were developed for Apple users who need an external storage solution specifically matched to their Mac. The new G-DRIVE Mobile USB harmonises perfectly with the clean white of the new MacBook and features a USB 2.0 interface for use on the move. The G-DRIVE Mobile additionally offers a FireWire 800 connection and, with its black-and-silver look, is the perfect companion for the new MacBook Pro. Both devices are preformatted for the Mac and enable simple and fast automatic backups via Time Machine. Like the related G-DRIVE Mini, the less expensive G-DRIVE Mobile hard drives are equipped with 2.5-inch drives, but they achieve only 5,400 rather than 7,200 revolutions per minute. Whether storing photos, music or documents – their reliability and ease of use also make the G-DRIVE Mobile models ideal for creative users. “At G-Technology, we understand the needs of Mac users and professional users who must store data securely. They require the highest quality, reliability and performance,” said Steve Pereira, General Manager, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Europe. “The new G-Drive Mobile USB and G-Drive Mobile external hard drives enrich our portfolio.”
