Filming is due to begin here in Germany in spring 2011. According to the first announcement, the “action-packed, effects-saturated version of the popular Grimm fairy tale is intended to drag the story into the new millennium”. It will also introduce a collection of the most notorious characters, many of them on film for the first time. We remain curious – especially since the actual producers are Scott Gardenhour and Kira Madallo Sesay, meaning Bay’s influence will remain limited. There is no information yet about the 3D technology to be used, but usually well-informed sources report that Avatar-tested Joseph C. Pepe is involved as lead character designer.
