The prize for the best German-language screenplay for an animated theatrical feature will be presented during the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film. The aim of the prize is to support promising German-language feature-length animated films during the development phase, contribute to improving the quality of their content and underscore the importance of the professional screenwriter in creating good text templates and attractive films.
The award is aimed at feature-length animated-film projects written in German. Projects in the production phase can also be submitted. Screenplays for films that have already been released in cinemas or are already completed at the time the prize is awarded are not eligible.
Accompanying the screenplay award, screenplay workshops with German and European screenwriters and experts will take place in collaboration with MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg, the Heinrich Böll Foundation Baden-Württemberg and the Hochschule der Medien.
On May 3 – 4, the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film and the FMX Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive Media, in cooperation with Michael Schmetz Mediaconsult, will organise Animation Production Day (APD) with selected producers and financiers. APD offers a good opportunity for screenwriters to make direct contact with potential producers.
