David Alexander’s course starts on August 20 and runs for eight weeks until October 15. In terms of content, it will deal with the application of advanced Maya Dynamics. To demonstrate various techniques, David guides the students through a complete shot from a well-known TV series that was completed under him.
Core techniques that are intended to be learned include the procedural creation of cracks, falling splinters, and dust particles. Furthermore, duplicating objects along a surface is presented, as is working with instances of particles. Expressions and dynamic simulations round the whole thing off somewhat.
So that each of the areas can be internalized, the students are shown every step from modeling through scripting to final rendering.
As a bonus, David Alexander also shows scripts that have proven themselves in the productions on which he worked. One of them, for example, handles object reproduction and another provides customized instance baking.
