The principle on which the plug-in is based is called Marching Cubes and was created in the mid-1980s by "Lorensen and Cline" to visualize MRI data. Through numerous extensions and improvements, Softimage was thus given the ability to work with metaballs. The plug-in’s key features include the application of UV coordinates, advanced mesh smoothing, and support for Realflow BIN datasets.
