Cuddly Creature from Hell

Murphy looks funny, but: the devil is a squirrel! A student team from the French university Isart Digital in Paris created the impressive short film.

Murphy is a creature from the forest who lives there during the Second World War. When a British paratrooper is injured during a jump, he encounters the comical ball of fluff beneath the trees. And Murphy really only wants to help … but causes disasters in the process.

The student team not only integrated the full-CG creature photorealistically into the filmed backplates, but also created several full-CG environments. Murphy was animated using motion capturing with Microsoft’s Kinect and Faceshift.
