After Epic Games already awarded the Blender Fundation 1.2 million dollars for the next three years through its own Epic MegaGrants program, Nvidia is now also involved. The company is supporting development of the open-source tool with immediate effect as a Corporate Patron of the Blender Development Fund. This corresponds to at least €120,000/year and, according to official information, will finance two more developers who are mainly intended to work on Blender’s core.
Blender Development Fund 2019
The year began with just under 1200 members and €22,000 per month for nine supported developers. More than 3300 people and companies now finance the project, which has already exceeded the originally set target (€50k) for ten full-time developers. As a result, the Blender Fundation currently receives just under €84,000 per month—with the aim of soon being able to employ 20 full-time developers.
