Epic Games presented a 30-minute technical session examining Nanite and its implications for Unreal Engine 5 asset pipelines.
Nanite is a virtualised micropolygon geometry system designed to support geometry densities far beyond conventional real-time workflows. Epic described the technology as enabling artists to render models containing millions of polygons in real time with substantially less manual optimisation.
In the session, Epic Games technical artist Arran Langmead explains how Nanite affects game-asset production and outlines the limitations that applied to the technology at the time.
