ASUS Striker II Extreme Adds Three-Way SLI

ASUS introduces the Striker II Extreme gaming and overclocking motherboard with NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI.

The motherboard is based on NVIDIA’s new nForce 790i Ultra SLI chipset. It supports up to three graphics cards in a three-way SLI configuration and provides extensive overclocking controls through Extreme Tweaker.

New Fusion Block cooling system

The Fusion Block system combines a heat-pipe design with the option to connect a liquid-cooling loop. One connection cools the northbridge, southbridge and voltage regulators, supporting higher overclocking results.

One-click CPU upgrade

CPU Level Up increases processor performance without requiring additional hardware or prior overclocking knowledge. The user selects a target processor speed and the motherboard applies the settings. Extreme Tweaker provides controls for frequency tuning, overvoltage and memory clocks.

Maximum graphics performance with three-way SLI

Three graphics cards can be linked through a simple setup to increase 3D performance and frame rates.

COP EX and Voltiminder LED protect components

Voltage adjustment is fundamental to high overclocking performance but can damage expensive PC components. The ROG motherboard’s Voltiminder LED displays voltage status for the CPU, northbridge, southbridge and memory through a colour code resembling a tachometer’s red zone. This provides real-time voltage monitoring during overclocking. COP EX thermal protection is designed to make chipset-voltage increases and overclocking safer by monitoring temperature and protecting a GPU against overheating. Together, Voltiminder LED and COP EX provide safeguards while users tune performance.
