ClipJOCKEY includes a range of functions also provided by S4M’s VPMS Video Production Management System. The difference is that, as a standalone solution, ClipJOCKEY has been tailored to the core processes of control rooms and production facilities. The solution therefore focuses on the specific requirements of television broadcasters and production companies, both for ingest—the recording of video material—and for playout.
On the one hand, video material can be digitized easily and imported from tape to a video server. For production companies in particular, this can be a decisive first step toward a file-based working environment. Conversely, digital content can also be played out from the server to tape. Television broadcasters can also use ClipJOCKEY to handle their entire playout process without tape.
ClipJOCKEY turns the video server into a multichannel production tool: up to eight server channels and two VTRs can be controlled through a single application. This includes playing out television reports through a MOS-enabled newsroom system, as well as playing program-supporting elements such as trailers.
