THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX, a Bernd Eichinger production distributed by Constantin Film, has captivated German audiences. More than 1.3 million people saw Uli Edel’s much-discussed film about the dramatic events from 1967 to the “German Autumn” of 1977 during its first two weeks in cinemas. Attendance increased by an impressive 17 percent during the second weekend compared with the opening weekend.
Producer Bernd Eichinger has therefore received the coveted industry Bogey award. Trade magazine Blickpunkt:Film presents the award to films that attract more than one million viewers within their first ten days in cinemas. THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX represents German cinema in the Oscar race.
