Unity released character assets and supporting systems from The Heretic short film to demonstrate its High Definition Render Pipeline and VFX Graph workflows.

Facial animation

The pack included the Gawain character and a facial-animation system for importing and processing 4D clips, fitting frames and posing results inside Unity. Here, 4D clips referred to time-varying 3D mesh sequences.

Skin and shading

A skin-attachment system supplied dynamic deformation and multiple drivers. Shader Graph assets covered skin, eyes, teeth and hair, with dedicated rendering passes.

Historical requirements and licence

The package required Unity 2019.3.12f1 and HDRP 7.3.1. The tools and shaders could be extended for production, while the Gawain character itself was restricted to non-commercial use.

Character teams should verify the current asset licence, render-pipeline version and 4D data compatibility before reuse.
