Always and everywhere free assets – if you’ve been longing for a collection of resources: For your next download session, here’s a big link collection of various useful files you can use for your projects, private and commercial. From 3D assets, pure meshes or materials, to VFX stock videos, light leaks and sound FX! We list a selection of individual downloads, packs or libraries that we have collected over the years. And of course we are constantly updating the list! :)

The listed assets can be used for commercial purposes – mostly via CC0 or CC Attribution licence – but may not be reproduced or resold in the same form. More details on usage can be found under the respective links!

3D Assets Collection

In this category you will find assets including meshes, UVs, materials/textures – possibly with rigs and animations – but also FX simulations, VDBs, IES lights and more. The free files from the Unreal or Unity Store, such as Project Nature or the 1500 Paragon assets, are not listed here, you can search for them separately.(But since it was often asked: As a rule, you can easily download assets via Unreal or Unity and export them from the game engine in .fbx or .obj).

3D Assets

  • Sketchfab offers thousands of CC0 assets, as well as more than 300,000 assets under CC Attribution licence for free download. From low to high poly, rigged & animated 3D models, there is something for everyone in various styles.

Free kitbash packs, scans and other 3D models: In this collection you’ll find a large selection for your mesh collection – sometimes with simple textures! From sci-fi elements, statues and doors to shells or indefinable objects – there’s something here for every project.

Materials & Shaders

PBR Texture Pack, Cycles, Substance or MDL Shader: This category offers a large selection of materials. As a rule, the texture packs contain base colour, metal roughness/specular gloss, height, normals, and sometimes also AO, opacity and other maps. If you are looking for specific PBR materials, you can also search through many of the libraries via Textures.one.

HDRI Maps

Of course you can record HDRIs yourself – especially for your own shots. If you’ve overslept, don’t have the right equipment or are simply looking for a practical lighting setup for your 3D assets, you’ll find a very large selection of environment maps here!

  • HDRI Haven is one of the best-known resources for over 400 HDRIs in 16K
  • HDRMAPS offers over 100 free HDRIs with 10000 x 5000 pixel resolution
  • HDR Packs by Noah Witchel: A total of seven bundles with almost 100 HDRIs
  • 35 HDRIs in up to 18K resolution from Adrian Kubasa (Eisklotz.com)
  • HDR Vault Library (Pixar resources) 44 maps in 8192 x 4096 pixel .tex – The download comes in 5 parts

VFX Stock Footage

If you want to use additional stock footage for your compositing work, you can also use some free footage in addition to the well-known paid offers. Our selection includes fog, explosions, lightning, fire and rain as well as typical overlays such as light leaks and lens flares.

Images, textures & alphas

For this category there are of course the prominent classics, such as Pixabay, unsplash, or pexels. But there are also other useful finds available online: Fingerprints, cut-out people, backgrounds, simple textures, clouds, bullet holes, shattered glass, references, alphas, and on and on!

And since a project can rarely do without suitable sounds or music, here is our top selection for high-quality sound FX, as well as music textures, ambiences and other auditory elements. You can use the assets for all kinds of applications – whether for trailers, films, animations, games, podcasts or as the basis for your own sound designs. Most files come in 48,000 Hz / 24-bit and WAV format.
