Sony introduced the HDC-P31, a compact point-of-view system camera with remote-operation features and 1080/50p HDR support.
Remote Workspace
Sony designed the camera to reduce on-site setup and monitoring requirements. Web-based remote access was planned for winter 2020, covering menu settings, status monitoring, log files and firmware updates. Back-focus adjustment could also be performed remotely with compatible lenses.
Its compact footprint was intended to provide greater installation flexibility for live productions.
The HDC-P31 used a 2/3-inch global-shutter CMOS sensor system designed for high sensitivity and low noise. It was developed as a smaller POV-format member of Sony’s HDC family and integrated with Sony XVS-series switchers and the ELC Live Production Control automation system.
HDR Workflow
The camera supported S-Log3 and HLG for HDR production, along with simultaneous HDR and SDR output through Sony’s SR Live workflow. Embedded SR Live metadata in the SDI signal was intended to maintain consistent HDR and SDR image quality across the production pipeline.
