With Symphony 4.7, Avid Technology made its real-time finishing system available on the Macintosh platform for the first time. Updated versions of other Avid products—including Media Composer 11.7, Film Composer 11.7 and Avid Xpress 5.7—were also set to support Mac OS X and were expected during the first quarter of 2003. Symphony 4.7 for Mac OS X highlighted real-time 10-bit DVE processing, Ultimatte keying and professional colour correction.
Cross-platform additions for Symphony on Mac and Windows, Media Composer and Avid Xpress included real-time colour correction, plus 23.976 fps project support across all Media Composer systems. Avid’s new MetaSync application, designed to synchronise arbitrary metadata with conventional video and audio content, was also planned for all Mac products.
