Nvidia describes its new Quadro Plex VCS Model IV as a major performance increase for professional visualisation and graphics-intensive technical and scientific applications.
Using Nvidia’s SLI multi-GPU technology, the Quadro Plex VCS Model IV provides what the manufacturer claims is 20 times the compute density of conventional graphics-processor solutions. It offers rendering performance of up to 80 billion pixels per second and seven billion vertices per second, with resolutions up to 148 megapixels across 16 synchronised digital outputs and eight HD-SDI channels. Configurations range from individual systems to clusters.
Quadro Plex VCS is based on Nvidia’s unified architecture and Quadro FX 5600 GPUs. Nvidia highlights dynamic allocation of processing resources among compute, geometry, shading and pixel-processing tasks. GPU computing combines hardware functions with CUDA technology for complex, compute-intensive workloads. Vertex and pixel programming through Shader Model 4.0 is intended to improve performance and next-generation effects in demanding professional OpenGL and DirectX 10 applications. A 3GB framebuffer, 1.5GB per GPU, supports interactive visualisation of large models and real-time processing of large textures and frames with full-screen antialiasing.
The Quadro Plex VCS Model IV is distributed through Nvidia partner PNY Technologies.
