International VFX luminaries, digital artists and animation experts are expected as keynote speakers at the two-day animago CONFERENCE on October 16 and 17, 2014 in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
Highlights of this year’s conference include presentations by Scott Clark on “Step Away From the Computer! And Other Advice on Creating Great Character Animation” (Pixar Animation Studios, USA), Florian Gellinger on the invisible visual effects of "The Book Thief" (RISE | Visual Effects Studios), Tony Micilotta on the work on "X-Men: Days of Future Past" (MPC, UK), Jorge Montiel Meurer on characters in advertising films (The Mill, UK), Jürgen Schopper on the visual effects in "Sapphire Blue" (ARRI visual effects, Germany), Florian Witzel on VFX in the Hollywood blockbusters "Lucy", "Transformers 4", "Pacific Rim" (Industrial Light & Magic, USA), Jörn Großhans on the making-of for the fourth season of "Game of Thrones" (Mackevision Medien Design, Germany), Jan Stoltz on the characters and animations in "The 7th Dwarf" (Trixter Film, Germany), Matthias Zabiegly on boys’ dreams of racing cars, spaceships and explosions (Aixsponza, Germany), Rüdiger Kaltenhäuser & Markus Lauterbach on “High End VFX and Character Animation for Commercials” (Glassworks, Netherlands), and Mike McGee on “Gravity – weightless with Sandra Bullock, Audrey Hepburn for a Galaxy Chocolate Commercial & Virtual Reality” (Framestore, UK), and many more.
This year, the event will once again be accompanied by a freely accessible trade exhibition, the animago TRADE FLOOR. A total of more than 30 companies from the entire digital media production industry will be represented and provide information about their products, technologies or services, including CADnetwork, Celluloid VFX, Chimney Germany, Dell, exozet, Kuka Roboter, Laubwerk, Nvidia, PNY, Software3D, VIZPARK, Wacom and Wonderlamp.
On the evening of October 16, the winners of the animago AWARD 2014 will be announced as part of a festive ceremony. 50 entries from 1,014 submissions from 67 countries are nominated for the prestigious award.
