By announcing its own prize, graphics-card manufacturer Nvidia wants to bring momentum to the development of 3D games for mobile devices: The “International Mobile Gaming Awards” (IMGA) are explicitly aimed not only at professional developers but also at students and career changers.

Participants can submit their proposals via the IMGA website until September 2005. At the end of September, a jury will then select the 20 best concepts. The developers receive the necessary support to realise their ideas and complete a demo-capable version of their game by the end of January.

Startup companies, students and newcomers to the world of mobile 3D game development receive support in the form of an office if necessary and are provided with 3D design software to realise their concept. Four winners will then be announced in February 2006 as part of the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. The four awards are presented in the categories Best Art, Best Game Play and Best Technical Achievement; the “Grand Prix” honours the best achievements in all categories. As the main prize, the overall winner receives a contract with an agent and a publisher to bring the title to market and sell it.
