An important step on the path to the 2010 German Film Awards has been taken: last weekend, the preselection committees for feature film, documentary film and children's film completed their screenings and deliberations and selected 40 German cinema films that will now compete for nominations.
Three students from Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg have been nominated at the fifth Machinima Film Festival 2008 in New York for their film “Niko Bellic – A Portrait.” In the Best Student Work category, they will compete against five other films from the United States at the Eyebeam Center for Art and Technology on 1 November.
A total of 590 entries in 15 categories are competing for this year’s German “advertising film Oscars”, according to the Association of German Advertising Film Producers.
Under the motto – Film Meets Prose – Primero Verlag launched the “Filmakademie Authors' Project” in early 07 together with the Filmakademie Baden - Württemberg. Following the great success of the first short-story collection, “Mein Herz in fremdem Land”, which attracted considerable interest among Ludwigsburg's film anniversary audience, the trade press and the film scene, the second prose collection, “Utopia 07”, appeared in March 2008 with short stories by graduates and students of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
