26th International Short Film Festival Hamburg
The International Short Film Festival Hamburg is one of the world's most important and successful short-film festivals for the industry and public. From June 1 to 7, around 300 excellent short films from around the world will be shown in the various competitions (International Competition, NoBudget, German Competition, Hamburg Short Film Night and Flotter Dreier) and special programmes (country focus Thailand, Searching and Finding: The Meaning of Life, Thunder & Roar: The Motor Programme, Dirty Diaries and others).
Alongside short films in cinemas, the festival offers other exciting events such as two open-air screenings on a parking deck, a tour through the St. Georg district with mobile projectors, various workshops and seminars for filmmakers, and the legendary party nights in the festival club.
The 12th Mo&Friese Children's Short Film Festival takes place at the same time.

Deutsche POP information day
At its information day, the Deutsche POP training academy offers workshops that provide an opportunity to sample exciting careers in music and media - for example, photo designer, presenter or music producer. A total of 38 training programmes will be presented, preparing participants for their careers through practical experience.
The information day takes place on Saturday, February 20, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the academy's four locations in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.
Everyone who would like to learn about forward-looking professions in music, sound, management, communication, design or image and is interested in training in them is invited.
Admission is free; registration at the respective location is requested.

NDR Chooses Sony BVM Reference Monitors
Norddeutscher Rundfunk in Hamburg commissioned three Sony BVM-L230 units in April. The new 23-inch Full HD LCD monitors are used for electronic colour correction and in Studio 3’s control room, supplying these areas with reference images.
Photoshop workshop at Macromedia
The Macromedia Academy of Media is offering a free short workshop on two special Photoshop topics. The renowned photographer and author Karsten Rose (Digital Face & Body Styling, Addison-Wesley) will demonstrate the possibilities of digital face and body styling and introduce the automation and workflow of Photoshop. The workshop starts at 6 pm and lasts approx. 2 hours.
Karsten Rose is an internationally renowned photographer and image composer. For years he has been researching and perfecting the use of Adobe Photoshop in the professional post-processing of people images. He is the author of numerous specialised books, such as "Digital Face & Body Styling (Addison-Wesley)" and a sought-after speaker at conferences (Photoshop Convention).

Training for Hamburg media designers now officially recognised by the state
With the start of the new year came the welcome news from Hamburg’s cultural authority. AEAusP, Akademie für Elektronisches Publizieren & Art GmbH, has succeeded — it can now add ‘officially recognised by the state’ to its Hamburg media designer training course. ‘This is a success that we regard as confirmation of the quality of our work,’ says Ralf Voss, technical director of AEP.

NDR Television Continues on Course for Success
NDR Television remains ARD's most successful third channel in 2007. With a nationwide annual market share of 2.8 percent, the broadcaster maintained first place, followed by WDR Television, which achieved an annual figure of 2.6 percent.
