Legal music downloads grow by 37 percent

The boom in legal music downloads continues. In the third quarter of 2007 alone, 9.3 million digital products were downloaded from the Internet, media control reports. "The past quarter was the strongest single quarter in history," says Ulrike Altig, managing director of media control. The increase corresponds to 37.1 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.

Microsoft hesitates with Zune player in face of «difficult German market»

Microsoft will not compete against Apple’s iPod with its Zune music player in Germany in the short term. «The German market for MP3 players is one of the most difficult in the world». Stephan Brechtmann, who is responsible for the «Entertainment & Devices» division at Microsoft Germany, said this on Saturday at an information event in Kitzbühel.
