First technology channel on the internet

Yesterday in Düsseldorf, Germany’s first technology TV channel was launched at the annual meeting of the SACHEN MACHEN initiative founded by VDI. The WebTV channel ‘TecTV’, established especially for young people, is produced by the Stuttgart moving-image agency fischerAppelt, tv media and can be reached at www.tectv.de.

ASTRA increases capacity for DSF in Germany

ASTRA and sports broadcaster DSF have concluded an agreement on the use of additional satellite transmission capacity. Under this agreement, effective from February 1, 2008, DSF will increase the bandwidth of its digital TV signal by almost 50 percent.

At the end of 2007, Hürth-based nobeo GmbH acquired Cologne-based FilmPartners Deutschland GmbH. nobeo GmbH’s full-service offering in studio, outside-broadcast and postproduction is thereby expanded to include ‘ENG crews’. Both companies also have many years of expertise and production capacity in ‘hidden camera / reality TV production’ and ‘postproduction’. FilmPartners Deutschland will retain its own identity as part of nobeo.

NDR Television Continues on Course for Success

NDR Television remains ARD's most successful third channel in 2007. With a nationwide annual market share of 2.8 percent, the broadcaster maintained first place, followed by WDR Television, which achieved an annual figure of 2.6 percent. Altogether, 10.7 million people in Germany tuned in to the third channel from the north every day during the year now drawing to a close.

ZDF Programme Director Bellut: “We Have Achieved the Most Important Goals”

"With current market shares of 13.3 and 13.2 percent, ZDF and ARD are presently showing their actual competitive strength. ZDF is parting ways with presenter Andrea Kiewel at the turn of the year. ZDF Director General Markus Schächter stated in Mainz: "Surreptitious advertising in ZDF programmes is not acceptable. Andrea Kiewel's appearances in several programmes, in connection with the now-known details of her PR contract with the Weight Watchers organization, have destroyed the basis of trust between us."

Internet TV Channel on Renewable Energy Launches

Creventis Services launches the beta phase of the Internet TV channel and multimedia knowledge platform Energy1.TV on renewable energy, energy efficiency and decentralised energy supply. Market analyses by management consultancy Roland Berger estimate the worldwide market volume of energy generation in 2006 at around 100 billion euros, sustainable mobility at 180 billion euros and energy-efficiency technologies at around 450 billion euros. According to a study by the World Energy Council (WEC), an increase in global demand for energy of 70 – 100 percent is expected by 2050.

Axel Springer Aktiengesellschaft intends to conclude a purchase agreement with fellow shareholder KKR/Permira on the sale of its indirect stake in ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG (12 percent each of the ordinary and preference shares). The purchase price for the shares amounts to a total of Euro 509,359,881.60 (average Euro 19.40 per ordinary and preference share).

IPTV Enjoys Ever Greater Popularity
