Olymptronica 2007

9th International Eyes & Ears Awards

Around 700 guests celebrated the 32 prize winners and 96 finalists of the International Eyes & Ears Awards last Thursday. For the ninth time, industry association Eyes & Ears of Europe presented the distinction as part of Medientage München. The two special prizes "Innovation" and "Effectiveness" went to 20th Century Fox and ProSieben respectively. Robert Wilson received the Eyes & Excellence Award.

Intel raffles off three parabolic flights for Germany’s most extreme “mobile gamers”

Today the “Intel ZeroG Competition” starts on Intel Game On (www.intel.de/gameon): the chance to win one of three places on a parabolic flight in the USA beckons. To enter, each participant must upload a photo of their wildest activity with a notebook: for example, a photo of the last session on the glacier - the more extreme, the better, because the image can then be rated with up to ten points by all Intel Game On visitors. The three participants who have the highest average rating after four weeks will fly to Las Vegas at the beginning of January 2008. With a converted passenger plane, they will experience weightlessness there several times in succession for around 20 seconds.

ESL Pro Series

On August 24, 2007, Europe’s largest league for computer games kicked off the eleventh season of the eSports professional league, the ESL Pro Series, in Leipzig at Games Convention. With 170,000 euros, it is Germany’s most highly endowed league for professional computer gaming. The league comes to Munich’s Tonhalle on 09.11.2007. In Warcraft 3 and Counter-Strike, professional players compete live before an audience for valuable points in the competition for the German electronic sports championship and for 170,000 euros in prize money.

animago AWARD

The most important competition for Digital Content Creation (DCC) in the German-speaking region is launching with a new concept. This year, the main prize for “Best Production” will be awarded for the first time, and the winner of the “Best University Production” category will be rewarded with a sponsorship prize. The submission deadline is June 30, 2007. The animago EVENT 2007 with a festive awards ceremony takes place as part of the digital creation days – the networking event of the German-speaking DCC industry – at the Congress Center in Karlsruhe. On November 8 and 9,2007, the digital creation days offer, as part of an integrated congress and exhibition concept, the opportunity to get to know new trends and developments in the German-speaking DCC industry. The animago Awards will be officially presented on the evening of November 8 as part of an exciting Award Ceremony.

Official music video by Fantastischen Vier created by a MyVideo user for the first time

In an unprecedented campaign, Die Fantastischen Vier, together with MyVideo.de, Vodafone, ProSieben and Radio Energy, had the official music video for the new single from the album “Fornika” filmed by fans and creatives. Since the call two months ago at fanta4.myvideo.de, more than 300 clips were submitted in the first, three-week phase, a huge response when one considers the effort behind an animated video.

animago AWARD 2007: Renowned Computer Graphics Competition Gives Starting Signal for New Concept

The most important competition for Digital Content Creation (DCC) in German-speaking countries launches with a new concept: in 2007, the trade magazine DIGITAL PRODUCTION is organising the 11th animago AWARD – and realigning the competition to take account of the technical development of the DCC sectors and growing international participation. Greater transparency in the categories and greater prominence for the winners are the goal.
